Don't Look Up(2021)
dir. Adam McKay
A planet-killer comet, and nobody looks up.
Where to watch: Streaming on NetflixLetterboxd ↗
Two astronomers try to warn the world of an approaching civilization-ending comet, and discover that the media and political system have no functioning mechanism for taking the warning seriously.
Why it’s here
Aims its satire less at climate denial specifically than at the entire machinery that makes denial possible — media incentives, political cowardice, a public trained to scroll past its own extinction. Broad, occasionally too broad, but it lands.
