The status quo is overdue.
We read the books for people who are done pretending everything’s fine, together.
Next round soon
Borrow it from your library, buy it used, or grab it through the book’s page. Then read it like it matters.
Four steps. No homework.
Get the pick
One email: the book, the reading window and where we meet. Borrow it from your library if you can.
Read it
On your own time, at your own pace. Margin notes encouraged.
Talk it through
One conversation or a few, depending on the book. Run by people, not an algorithm. Bring questions, not book reports.
Do something with it
Each round ends with one small action, because reading is the start, not the finish. Make something better.
Anyone who was told a book wasn’t for them
You don’t need to have read the classics, finish on time, or bring a hot take. Show up curious. That’s the whole entry requirement.
- Curious readers
- Teachers & librarians
- Parents (and their teens)
- People who left school but kept asking questions
Reading RebellionHostEvery roundHi, I’m Chrissie.
I started Punk & Pedagogy, and I’ll be leading the sessions. Full disclosure: my to-read shelf is a hazard, so most rounds I’ll be reading the pick for the first time, right alongside you. I’m not here to lecture. I’m here to ask better questions, with you.
- Name
- Chrissie
- Role
- Founder, Punk & Pedagogy
- Shelf
- Overdue. Dangerously.
- Read it yet?
- Usually not. That’s the point.
Get your card.
One email per round: the pick, the dates, the place. That’s it.
Read → Reflect → Resist
Before you borrow
Is it free?
Yes, for now. If a round ever has real costs (a venue, a guest), it will be pay-what-you-can, and nobody gets turned away.
Where do we meet?
It depends on the round: online, in person, or both. Every pick announcement says where. Online links go to members only.
How often?
About one round every four to six weeks, so there is time to actually read the book.
Do I have to finish the book?
No. Come with half a book and a whole question. That counts.
Can I bring my teen?
Yes. Some rounds are flagged for teens and families, and Raise the Future rounds are made for reading together.
