The Family(2019)
dir. Jesse Moss
A secret Christian network, wielding real power.
Where to watch: Streaming on NetflixLetterboxd ↗
A secretive Christian organization with deep ties to Washington power — senators, presidents, dictators — investigated through journalist Jeff Sharlet's years embedded inside it, adapted from his own nonfiction books.
Why it’s here
Sharlet spent years embedded inside the group he's now the on-camera guide through — the same access problem every insider investigation has, here made visible rather than hidden. Worth knowing the series carries a real, documented bias critique (that it understates historical Democratic involvement with the group) alongside its reporting; watch it as an argument, not a neutral record.
